In the late 1990s, a family of six settles into their new home on Vancouver Island, as internal dynamics are slowly revealed through the experiences of the youngest child, Sasha. Their fresh start is interrupted by the increasingly dangerous behavior of Jeremy, the family's oldest child.

The Sudbury Indie Cinema will celebrate the remarkable legacy of founder and former executive director Beth Mairs with a special retirement celebration and fundraiser on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. The evening will feature a mystery film personally selected by Mairs — with the title remaining secret until showtime— alongside a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres by Verdicchio Ristorante, and a cash bar. The event aims to both honour Mairs’ extraordinary contributions to arts and culture in Northern Ontario and raise funds to support the future of the not-for-profit cinema co-operative.

As villages across Palestine rise against British colonial rule, Yusuf drifts between his rural home and the restless energy of Jerusalem, longing for a future beyond the growing unrest. But history is relentless. With rising numbers of Jewish immigrants escaping antisemitism in Europe and some arriving with nefarious Zionist-colonial ambitions, and the Palestinian population uniting in the largest and longest uprising against Britain’s 30-year dominion, all sides spiral towards inevitable collision in a decisive moment for the British Empire and the future of the entire region.
